MLK Day of Service - Stream Cleanup

Years ago, this area was reforested, but plastic tree shelters were left in place. As the plastic breaks down, it is damaging soil, threatening aquatic life and inhibiting tree growth. 

Last year, we removed about a hundred of these shelters on one side of the path. Now, we will work on the other side, as the invasive honeysuckle has been minimized. 

Some of this work could be challenging, as we will be in the forest amidst blackberry bushes with thorns. Wear long-sleeved, thick clothing; boots;  protective eyewear like sunglasses; and bring gardening/work gloves if you plan to get in the thick of it. Please bring gardening clippers or scissors if you have them. You can park at the cul de sac at the end of Broadstone Street and take the asphalt trail down to the path along Peter Pan Run.
